"Blessed the People (Psalm 33)" is a contemporary Psalm setting appropriate for Trinity Sunday or for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C.  Blessed the People also works well as a song of praise for Gathering or Sending. Unlike the recording, I suggest singing the Chorus between verses 3 and 4 when you use it as a Psalm response. For a shorter response, cut out the middle and just sing the first two and last two measures of the Chorus.

Lyrics

Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
To be his own.

1. Upright is the word of the LORD
And all his works are trustworthy
He loves justice and right
Of the kindness of the LORD
The earth is full

Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
To be his own.

2. By the word of the LORD
The heavens were made
By the breath of his mouth
All their host
For he spoke and it was made
He commanded and it stood forth

Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
To be his own.

3. See the eyes of the LORD
Are upon those who fear him
Upon those who hope in his kindness
To deliver them from death
And preserve them in spite of famine

4. Our soul waits for the LORD
Who is our help and our shield
May your kindness oh lord be upon us
Who have put our hope in you
Who have put our hope in you

Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
To be his own.

Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
Blessed the people the Lord has chosen
To be his own.
To be his own
To be his own
To be his own
